August 2026. The car was handed to me dirty inside and out — staff admitted there had been no time to clean it. No joint inspection at pick-up, none at return, no signed condition report.
Days after returning the car, 3 500 SEK was taken from my deposit for a "rim scratch", based on a photo showing no plate, VIN or booking reference. Their own pre-rental damage report was made unilaterally on an uncleaned car — dirt hides exactly this kind of superficial mark. When I contested, they asked ME for pictures proving the damage wasn't there: reversing the burden of proof, which under Swedish law (KO v. Biluthyrarna Sverige, 2019) lies with the rental company.
My advice if you rent here: film the entire car — rims included — before driving off and at return, timestamped. I am disputing the charge through my bank and preparing an ARN complaint.

I'm very satisfied with Mabi car rental 🥰
We booked kia sorento or similar car and we got an even bigger SUV Kia ev9 which was great for our big family of 7.
We bought full protection and it still was cheaper than the other Major car rentals.
Staff was especially helpful and Anton at Mabi texted us info where our car was parked and where we could get our Keys. We had his number to text if we needed anything.
The office is just outside of Landvetter airport and really convenient and nice smooth carkey pickup

Our worse experience with a car rental company ever. The car they gave us was faulty, it was missing 4 out of 5 bolts on the front wheel. I called the Landvetter office as I heard a suspicious noise, the manager Therese, assured me the car had been serviced that day and nothing was wrong. As we got out on the highway, I lost control over the vehicle and I had to do an emergency stop. The front wheel was coming off!! Having my 10 month old baby in the back. We then had to wait nearly 2h for another car to come and missed a family event. Therese said she was going to compensate us. After the accident, we didn’t hear a word from Therese and she didn’t answer her phone. DO NOT rent with this company, they nearly killed me and my family. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Boka inte med Mabi. Ringde in och bokade gällande ett försäkringsärende. Bilen skulle bli levererad till verkstaden. Där var den inte och när jag ringer och frågar varför de inte levererat bilen blir jag meddelad att de måste missat att lägga in bokningen och de har heller ingen bil jag kan få nu. Sämsta servicekänslan jag varit med om. Helt oförmögna att lösa ett problem de själva skapat.
Je dois avouer que j'ai beaucoup hésité avant de louer chez Mabi, car beaucoup de commentaires indiquaient des prélèvements des cautions sans raison valable. Je me suis lancé quand même car les prix étaient vraiment moins chers que les autres agences autour. L'agence étant fermée pour les fêtes de fin d'année, un lien de paiement m'a été envoyé quelques jours avant mon arrivée. Ce lien comprenait le paiement de la location, mais aussi la caution. J'ai donc demandé, en me basant sur les avis négatifs, 2 liens permettant de séparer le paiement de la caution, pour ne pas que celle-ci soit prélevée. Il m'a été également demandé quelques jours avant si j'étais d'accord pour avoir une voiture électrique car ils n'avaient plus de véhicule disponible dans la catégorie demandée. J'ai refusé cette demande car je préfèrais un vehicule thermique, et l'agence m'a trouvé un autre véhicule d'une catégorie supérieure, sans supplément à payer. Il y avait un impact sur le pare-brise, qui était noté sur l'état des lieux de la voiture, et pas d'autres défauts. Tout s'est bien passé pendant la location, ainsi qu'au retour du véhicule le vendredi soir, avec la caution ayant été libérée dès le lundi matin.
Me basant sur mon expérience, je recommande l'agence Mabi pour louer un vehicule, le rapport qualité / prix est là, et ils répondaient rapidement à mes sollicitations, alors qu'il s'agissait des fêtes de fin d'année. Je suis très satisfait, et repasserai par Mabi si besoin. J'ignore si les autres clients ont reçu les demandes concernant des véhicules alternatifs, mais ce fût mon cas.
We rented a car, we thought petrol but got an electric car. The car was new but charging the car in winter was catastrophic. It took 4 h to charge ( car allowed only 6 to 15 kW) and the reach then was only 160 km . Talking to personal was not possible as the office was not open at 13.30 on a weekday at the airport. I think a car like this should not be rented out in winter! We had to leave for the airport one day earlier because of that and had to stay in a hotel. So , a car company should really provide cars that are usable. This experience was shit and I hope other hire companies think more .
Warning: MABI is a fraud scheme! Their business model is basically to keep your deposit for no reason. We rented a car from Mabi Landvetter. Even though we returned it on time, in perfect condition, with a full tank, they kept our deposit (9500 SEK). Only after we disputed the charge with credit card provider Worldline did Mabi give it back. Avoid at all costs.
