A really beautiful spot—perfect for watching the Northern Lights! Great views all around. The road is easy to drive; there are a few small potholes, but they aren't too bad. There are also moose around—we saw three of them during the night—so be a bit careful.

Exactly on the Arctic Circle, 515 meters above sea level. The town of Jokkmokk has an elevation of ~250m, and Ruoutevare is the highest point around. You can see the mountains of Sarek in the horizon. Great place, but lots and lots of mosquitoes... Just like everywhere else in Lapland 😎 Oh, and there's a mobile/radio mast here, I think it's 160 meters high. If you don't understand the warning sign, you can climb up... That's some view from up there... Get down fast if thunderstorms approach!
