Very interesting historical site 🤔 Take your time to read the information posted on the board before visiting the dtones A bit of history of the stones " the Ragnwalds kulle is the largest passage grave in the Nordic countries. The chamber measures 16 x 2.5 meters and the passage is a full 11 meters long. On one of the roof blocks, there are cup marks. It is believed that these were used in sacrifices. Several generations were buried in the chamber. It seems possible that ceremonies were held outside the passage (perhaps in connection with burials). Newer approaches have brought changes in opinions regarding those who were buried in such graves and why. It is assumed that most of the dead were put in graves soon after death. Before decomposition had gone too far, certain of them were then "parcelled" into the burial chambers. This is approximately the picture that presented itself to many of those who have excavated well preserved megalithic graves. The early Neolithic (often referred to as the "farming Stone Age" in Swedish) was a period in which communities lived mainly by animal husbandry and the growing of grain. Finds made by archaeologists at the Karleby settlements include ceramics, flints and animal bones. These show that cattle, pigs and sheep were kept. Hunting seems to have played only a minor role. The bones of fish and wild animals are rare finds. There is also ample evidence that wheat and other grain crops were grown."
