I found a jacket in the clearance section and spent around 30 minutes trying it on. When I went to the register to pay, the employee told me I couldn’t buy it because it was supposedly set aside for another customer and had been placed on the shop floor by mistake. This was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. If the jacket had been on the shop floor for that long, I should have been allowed to complete my purchase. If it was mistakenly placed there by an employee, the store should have taken responsibility and honored the sale. Additionally, the person I was shopping with noticed that the employee who took the jacket from me rolled her eyes. While it is possible that this gesture was directed at a colleague who made the mistake, it felt as though it was aimed at me, which came across as disrespectful. Overall, this was a very unprofessional experience, and I will not be returning.
