Ruskigt dåligt. Beställde bakad potatis som serverades med skagenröra där portionen var så liten att den fick plats i en dipskål. Min dotter fick alltså mer remouladsås i sin skål än jag fick skagen i min, vilket innehöll kanske 6 räkor. Dom 180 kronorna kunde lagts på något annat. Jösses. Skäms på er.

Quick take: A harbour smokehouse in Byxelkrok that cooks like it means it, with generous portions and prices that stay sane in a place where they easily could not. The full version: We ate outside the shop, right on the harbour, which turned out to be the right call. Of the options within walking distance in Byxelkrok, this is the one that feels least engineered for tourists. No concept, no branding exercise, just a smokehouse that has been in the same village for generations and still sells fish over the counter alongside the kitchen. Five dishes between us. The warm-smoked salmon came as a serious piece of fish, moist the whole way through, served with a delicious potato salad and apple sauce. The potato salad is worth calling out on its own. It would have been easy to buy that in a tub and nobody would have complained but it was clearly made in house and it was as good as anything else on the plate. That tells you most of what you need to know about the kitchen. The Västerbotten pie with prawns and aioli held up the same standard packed with cheese, properly baked and the salami pinza was solid without pretending to be anything more than a good piece of flatbread with decent toppings. Portions across the board were bigger than expected. Five dishes and two alcohol-free beers landed at 1097 kronor. For a Swedish summer harbour in July, with portions this size and this quality, that is fair. There are places twenty minutes away charging more for less care. The setting is functional with a great view of the water but not scenic in the postcard sense. You order inside past the fish counter and eat at tables by the water. Kitchen closes half an hour before the shop does, so do not roll up at the last minute and expect to be fed. If you are in northern Öland and want smoked fish handled by people who actually smoke it themselves, this is the stop.

Väntar i 45 minuter får ingen mat kocken har glömt mitt nummer… går in och vill få tillbaka pengarna får hela summan tillbaks fast i kontanter! Ingen känsla av att försöka kompensera mig, Så om ägaren är ansvarig kan ni gärna kompensera för detta besök
