Looking for a commercial premise in Stockholm has been a shock. If you write in English or sound foreign, securing even a viewing is almost impossible. This company even asked me if I could afford the rent for the ad I had replied to, even after I said the price was fine. Would they have asked a Swedish company the same? With most big agencies, the pattern is the same: no follow-up, no real interest, and a feeling that you are wasting their time. In prime locations, immigrant-owned small businesses are almost non-existent. Ten years ago, the city center was full of unique local shops. Today it is big chains only, and if you are not Swedish, you are not welcome. I should not have to name-drop presidents and luxury clients I have worked for just to be taken seriously.
