RapporteraThe small hill, which is called Lerbäckshög, is a grave from the Bronze Age. But it is more famous because of its use as the place where the Scanian county council met during the mediaeval time from 12th until beginning of 17th century. All parts of the county, which followed the Scanian Law, belonged to the Scanian county council, i.e. all the counties in southern Sweden; Scania, Halland, Blekinge and Bornholm. After a while, new counties were established and the Scanian county council was only comprising what now is Scania. Many different matters concerning the county were handled at the hill, and from the 14th century, the council became a tribunal, in which matters from the different judicial districts could be appealed against. The county council also became the forum were a new king or successor was tribute, and a row of kings had been tribute at Lerbäckshög. In a kingdom like the Danish, which select their kings, such a celebration was essential for the king to legitimize his power. The tradition decreed that a Danish king was elected at the Jylland Council in Viborg, and afterwards travelled around to the different counties. A document from 1423 confirms that a cohort of important men were gathering at the council in Lund in Scania, which was the second place to tribute the new king. The Judge at council was a so-called county judge, he was often a person from a noble family. There was also a deputy, called county hearing leader. Until the 16th century, laymen also were taken part. A protocol was conducted by a justice printer, who wrote down the judgements, and a square of thick woodcuts were used as seats at the place. In year 1387, Margareta Valdermarsdotter brought her sons hart and intestines to Lund, and those were buried in the cathedral. The son was Olof Håkonsen, king of Denmark and Norway. After the remnants were buried, political consultations were hold, which lead to Margareta´s tribute at Lerbäckshög. Two years later, the Kalmar union was established and she became the queen. Queen Margareta was superseded by Erik from Pommern, with whom she was reign together with from 1396. 1406 there was a wedding hold in Lund by Queen Margareta, she married Erik from Pommern with the English princess Philippa, the party was ongoing for weeks! A piquant ting with Philippa is that she is a straight descending relative to the mythical English king Richard Lionheart´s brother prince John. In the year 1513, the King Christian II, moved the Scania County Council to Landskrona, but it was moved back to Lund again. The king Fredrik I was tribute at Lerbäckshög in 1523, and in 1534, the count Christopher af Oldenburg was tribute as king, in the name of Christian II. Even the King Christian III was tribute at Lerbäckshög in 1535. In 1584, the King Christian IV was to be tributed at Lerbäckshög, this was to be prepared, and the 39th of January a letter was send to the county leader in Lundagård county, his name was Corfits Viffert. The letter told him to construct a podium at Lerbäckshög. To the ceremony, delegates from all parts of the county, which from the beginning was part of Scania county council, was called, and on the 20th July 1584 King Christian IV was tribute. It must have been an impressive sight to all residents in Lund when the leaders of all the counties were gathered, in their magnificent clothing and with their big corteges. The king was staying in Lund for several days, and many royal missives is written here during that time. The son of King Christian iV, also named Christian, was not celebrated at Lerbäckshög, but at the Lund main square, the 15th April 1610. A podium was built there, and this was the last tribute in Lund.
