What a beautiful place! Santa just visited a happy family in here.

We loooved Lapland lights. It is a magical place. The hosts put so much care and thought to helping you have an amazing trip. We got incredibly lucky and saw Northern Lights everyday of our 4-night stay in late November. On our drive over from Rovaniemi we passed 16 Northern Light tours on the main route! When it is clear there are also sooo many stars. Your away from bright city lights so the stars and northern light are very visible. We thought we had seen the best we would see, then the last night surprised us with even more brightness. You can even see them out the windows while laying in bed. One night I woke up to some reflections on the ceiling and I ran outside and WOW it was a bright rippling line through the sky. The hot tub and sauna are great. The kids loved playing outside in the snow with the sledges. It was really cold while we were there (-15F to 7F the first 2-3 days) so it was great the kids could play outside then come in and warm up and go back out again. Our last day it warmed up to 25-34F so we did the sauna and snow plunges that night. It was so fun. I enjoyed walking out to the creek and hearing the river. Everything was covered in snow and ice and just beautiful. We also cooked a small thanksgiving feast and found the kitchen to be well stocked with casserole dishes, plates, and cooking utensils. Even an immersion blender that was very helpful. My 10year old didn’t want to leave and the 6year old was ready to move there. We were a group of 7 made up of 4 adults, 3 kids. It was very very special for us. More than I ever could have imagined. We also visited Santa Station nearby quite charming Santa an elf experience only 20-30minutes away. We didn’t make it to the reindeer farm or huskies but we’ll have to do that next time. Thanks Ilke and Blake! I hope we make it back someday!

What can I say? Lapland Lights was a truly magical stay. Everything was clean and cosy with such attention to detail to make our stay perfect. The views are stunning whatever the weather, especially when taken in while sitting in the wood burner hot tub or on the lovely deck. We loved the traditional sauna and the games room was a massive hit with the kids! We all slept exceptionally well. A very easy drive from the airport and simple to get to other places, as it is well connected. We are still talking about our trip weeks on and we would definitely return.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Lapland Lights, la maison est top, très bien équipée et dans un endroit calme (le lac gelé à 5 min a pied est un gros plus et un bon spot pour les aurores boreales). Nous n'avons manqué de rien ! Merci !

We had the pleasure of visiting Lapland earlier this year and stayed at the wonderful Lapland Lights house. Ilke, the owner, helped us so much leading up to our visit with plenty of information of the area and things to do, all gained from her own family visits there. The house itself is perfectly situated next to a river and right near several ski resorts which we visited. It is beautifully decorated inside with plenty of living space and well insulated to keep out the extreme cold. The sauna next to the house was amazing too and great way to warm up! We caught some of the northern lights, unfortunately they weren't as bright as hoped but you can see from other guest's photos what they can be like on a good day so the location is ideal. We had a great huskey ride that Ilke recommended and visited Santa Village in Rovaniemi. If you want an unforgettable winter holiday then this is it!

We are so sad to be heading home tomorrow. This little Swedish paradise is a really lovely place to enjoy family time. Ilke & Blake are perfect hosts. Incredibly attentive and easy to communicate with. Ilke gave us fantastic recommendations and help with organising activities, which was so helpful. We simply cannot fault them, or the home at all. It’s a real “among the locals” experience and we found everyone delightful. It’s remote, peaceful and the view from the bedroom was complete bliss to wake up to. We did huskies, skiing and snowboarding (big up Olly at Ritavalkea ski centre who frankly has the patience of an absolute saint) horses, tubing and all the usual Lapland stuff… and I had a dream come true with a traditional ice bath and sauna at the neighbours! Highly recommend. We will be back! ❤️❤️❤️

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in December. The owners made sure we had all the information we needed for a great first visit to Lapland. This included suggestions for flights, car hire, directions from airport and suggested outings and opportunities for seeing the Northern Lights. The property itself was well appointed - with good cooking facilities and spotlessly clean. There is a wood fired sauna. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The property lies very close to the shores of a beautiful lake and there are cross country and down hill ski opportunities not far. Also within easy driving distance, there is sled-riding with huskies sledging and reindeer farms.

Had a beautiful time staying here via airbnb. Hosts gave great advice on local activities. There was so much to do with kids and adults. First time in many years that I have felt so close to nature and spending time with my kids in a very different way, really expanded our relationships. The house is fantastic, warm and well equipped. Locals were happy to chat, and educated us on life in the region. A great experience, and a reminder that City life gives such a limited view on the world. View from the sauna is just lovely, and you can build yourself an igloo if you need somewhere to cool down after.
