Eine sehr gute Gärtnerei mit eigenem Café, oder umgekehrt? Man setzt sich zum Kaffee oder Snack in kleine gemütliche Ecken und genießt das Treiben. Unbedingt besuchen! Wir waren zweimal da.

In short: Beautiful, soulful garden center on Väddö with a greenhouse café serving honest simple lunch. Well worth a detour for the setting alone, with two caveats: the soup of the day needed seasoning, and a light family lunch with coffee lands north of 1300 kr. The details: A garden center on Väddö that happens to serve lunch, though "happens to" undersells it. Kröns Trädgård is a working handelsträdgård first, with a shop full of pots and plants and a restaurant tucked into the greenhouse. The setting does most of the heavy lifting, and it does it beautifully. This is one of the more soulful spots you'll find in Roslagen, the kind of place you wander into for plants and leave two hours later having also eaten. Lunch is the simpler end of the menu, and we kept it that way. Prawn salad, a baked potato with skagenröra, and the vegetable soup of the day, which today was broccoli. All of it was well made and clearly done with care. The skagenröra had the right richness, the prawn salad was fresh and generous. The soup was the one thing that fell just short, and only because of seasoning. It wanted acid and salt. I fixed the first myself by borrowing a lemon off the salad plate, since the salad had arrived without one, and there was no salt on the table to solve the second. Small things, but a broccoli soup lives and dies on exactly those two levers, and this one would have gone from pleasant to genuinely good with both. Then the bill. Three kids, two adults, a light lunch, plus four coffees that don't come with the meal, and we were over 1300 kr. For a greenhouse café serving simple food, that's steep. The setting buys a lot of goodwill, but coffee not being included when you're already paying garden-center prices is the kind of detail that lingers longer than it should. So: picturesque, characterful, and genuinely lovely to spend time in. The food is honest and the garden is worth the trip on its own. Just go in knowing that a casual family lunch here costs more than the word "casual" suggests. My rating: 4/5 - a beautiful, soulful spot with honest cooking, marked down slightly for the under-seasoned soup and a bill that runs high for what light lunch this actually is.
