Fantastische trip met een geweldige gids Lukas. Wij hebben een hele mooie dag gehad met hem, erg mooie plekken gezien, zelfs rendieren gezien die net overstaken terwijl wij aan kwamen rijden. Ook super afgesloten met een “borrelplankje” met Zweedse kaas, toastje, rendier- en elandworst, koekjes, chocolade en warme thee.

My tour with Lukas raised itself above any expectation I had. His knowledge about the area is remarkable and so were the landscapes I’ve visited. It’s definitely worth trying.

Lukas greatly exceeded our expectations, and I cannot recommend him more for anyone thinking of taking a tour up to see the Northern Lights. We met up with Lukas on our first night at Kiruna. He was very honest and upfront about our chances in seeing the Aurora because of the rain and cloud covers, but did his research way beforehand and asked to meet later than scheduled so that we can hopefully find the golden period. During our ride, we heard the story of a wonderful person who simply exudes genuine love for his job as a guide. He shared with us a life’s worth of adventures on our trips over to the blue hole at Abisko, and when we initially couldn’t find a good spot to see the lights, took us to the Silverfallet to see the waterfall and the lake in the dark. Even with these impromptu explorations he was extremely well prepared, with headlights and tripods (for cameras and phones) at the ready. Which is why when - despite not having a lot of hope due to the weather - the Aurora appeared, he was already at the ready for both us and himself to take pictures immediately. The photo here is taken by him. Even though the lights were faintly visible to the naked eye he taught us how to identify them (which helped us immensely on a subsequent trip out). We then went to two other spots and saw the lights again, and ended up traveling with him for 5-6 hours in the end, while loving every minute of it. On the way back, he also told us everything we needed to know about the Kiruna relocation and factoids about the mines. We even saw moose, foxes, and rabbits on the way! We went with our guide, Lucas, he was just wonderful, even weather was not the best, he managed to produce a miracle chasing aurora in the middle of nowhere. Followed by an unforgettable bon fire BBQ moose sausages in the middle of forest around midnight.

It was our last day in Kiruna to view the Northern Lights but the clouds started to gather and looked dark and thick. Fortunately, we had Lukas as our guide and he wasn't going to give up. Into the car we went to get ahead of the clouds with Lukas regularly stopping to check out the sky. Then the magic happened and the Northern Lights appeared. Many thanks to Lukas for his enthusiasm and expertise to give us a memorable event which was then followed with a Sami type BBQ in the middle of the darkest forest with Moose sausages and lots of fun. Lukas you made our day! Ron
