A design school with some quirks in it

I would recommend both Transportation Design and Interaction Design Masters programmes. The Advanced Product Design programme is theoretical nonsense which could be taught to anyone, whether they've got a design background or not. This comes about as a result of having a programme leader (Thomas Degn) with no design skill and limited real world design experience - styling & sketching, for example, will be intentionally avoided as they involve a genuine artisan ability and very much feared. Basically, if you can invent a problem that may or may not necessarily exist, then offer a solution and show how you can stick several hundred post-it notes to a wall to impress master Thomas in following his methodology (which he has deluded himself into believing is something comparable to cracking the enigma code) then this is the programme for you (as it is for anyone). If on the other hand you're looking to apply REAL skills to get a job I'd look elsewhere. Criticising master Thomas will result in you being bombarded by word salad and unable to make logical progress. The atmosphere of the school and town is great. I'd recommend not working too hard and do as much snow related activities and partying as you can, as it's a once in a life time opportunity - there are benefits to 24 hour darkness. Work-life balance is important in youth and working like a slave for your leader is unnecessary. If you develop real abilities and not just the skills of a salesman you will be able to use the school as a stepping stone to get an internship and then a good job. I was one of the lucky few who did, despite endless pushback from the programme leader
