We booked a one-night stay here at the end of our trip specifically so we could experience the spa and restaurant. When making our original booking, we asked staff whether we needed to reserve the spa and restaurant in advance, and we were told that it would be fine and no need to book. Unfortunately, when we arrived and checked in at around 4pm, we asked to book a table for dinner and were told that the restaurant was fully booked. This was extremely disappointing, particularly as we had specifically chosen to stay at the hotel in order to enjoy it’s facilities. As a result, our only option was to take a taxi out of town to a nearby hotel for dinner, which ended up costing us over £100. We feel that hotel guests should be prioritised when it comes to restaurant reservations, or at the very least, guests should be clearly advised at the time of booking that restaurant reservations are essential. Had we been given the correct information, we would have booked in advance and avoided the situation altogether. Overall, this was a disappointing experience and took away from what should have been a relaxing final night of our trip.
